Abruzzo Region of Italy - Update of air quality plan
On 13 January 2022, the Regional Council of the Abruzzo Region adopted the provision aimed at updating the Air Quality Regional Plan which has, among its main purposes, the identification of "quality objectives of the air aimed at avoiding, preventing or reducing harmful effects on human health "and at maintaining the quality of the ambient air, where good, and improving it in other cases. The update of the Air Quality Regional Plan, which will replace the previous Plan, contains plans and measures aimed at avoiding exceeding the limit values and limit levels, reducing the risk of exceeding the limit values, objective and alarm thresholds in the areas where the risk of exceeding the alarm threshold arises, to limit the duration of any episodes of exceeding, with the relative provision of interventions to be implemented in the short term to achieve these purposes. The Plan was drawn up with the support of Techne Consulting srl as part of the assignment of the Abruzzo Region for "Updating the Regional Plan for the Protection of Air Quality"
Task Force on Integrated Assessment Modelling 2022
The 51st session of TFIAM, the Task Force on Integrated Assessment Modelling of the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution was held online from the 6th to the 8th of April 2022. At most 100 experts participated simultaneously. Our Technical director Carlo Trozzi presented the regional air quality plan of Campania Region in Italy. The region currently often has NO2, PM10 and ozone concentrations higher than air quality limit values, which required the development of an air quality plan. Based on emission inventories, air quality modelling and emission and emission abatement scenarios, future emissions and concentrations has been analysed. The strategic environmental assessment has been completed and the plan was adopted by Regional Council.
Expert Panel for Polluting Emissions Reduction 2022
The meeting of the Expert Panel for Polluting Emissions Reduction was held in Naples on 24 and 25 November, with the aim of illustrating the knowledge and models on polluting emissions along the life cycle of vehicles and fuels, the actions and technologies for reduce them and funding opportunities for research and innovation projects in this broad sector.
The 2022 edition had as its main theme the "electric" revolution underway in the transport sector and its implications for the reduction of air pollution and its impacts on human health.
Our technical director Carlo Trozzi presented a work on Il contributo dei trasporti nel risanamento della qualità dell'aria: casi studio regionali.
Our history: Haven ship accident information system
Thirty years have passed since the explosion on 11 April 1991 aboard the oil tanker Haven in front of Genoa Voltri. The outbreak causes 5 deaths, 30 injuries and the largest ecological disaster in the Mediterranean. Over 140 thousand tons of crude oil catch fire, the oily mass pours along the western coast and the Haven sinks a few miles off the coast of Arenzano. Techne Consulting created a few months later for ENEA and the Ministry of the Environment an information system relating to the environmental damage resulting from the accident on the Haven ship which collected all the data and maps of the accident and the environmental monitoring campaigns carried out in the area.
Task Force on Emissions Inventories and Projections 2022
The 2022 annual meeting of TFEIP, the Task Force on Emission Inventories and Projections of the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution was held online from 9-12 May 2022. Over 100 experts attended simultaneously. Our Technical Director Carlo Trozzi chaired the Combustion & Industry Expert Panel of which he is co-leader and presented Emission projections for waste management cycle: Liguria region case study at Projection Expert Panel. The plan scheme was adopted by the Regional Environmental Council and the strategic environmental assessment was completed..
